Merry & Bright

Paperie Lane wishes you the happiest of holidays! Merry and Bright

What's your holiday tradition?

Whether you know it or not, all family and friends have one. For me, my besties and I've been doing a Secret Santa exchange since 2002. No matter where we are, overseas or in a different state, we've never missed a Christmas. Thanks to our wonderful technology, Annie and I even did the exchange via webcam while we were living in Taipei. Then the official gifts were hand-delivered when they flew in to celebrate NYE (dedicated much?)

Like any other year, we had brunch at the very cozy A.O.C. for our exchange and right next to us was a table that sat nine old men.  They leaned over to wish us well and told us that they've been having lunch since 1964! Isn't that amazing? 50+ years of friendship and tradition. That is definitely something to live up to.

Since I've been so behind on my holiday crafts, I haven't had any time to get some good HQ shots of the holiday cards I've made.  I'll be better, I promise. Luckily there's instagram. Follow me @PaperieLane!

Live Simply Love Much

Happy 2013! I love the sentiment on this card: "Live Simply, Love Much."  We tend to crowd our lives with unnecessary things that ultimately end up complicating our lives further.  When we get wrapped up in situations, we sometimes take life and love for granted, but it helps to take a step back and realize what's really important.  This year, I'm going to try to be a better person than I was last year.  I'm going to focus on spending more time with the people I care about,  live a healthier lifestyle, and give as much as I can.

Live Simply Love Much card

For the house and sentiment, I used Papertrey Ink's Winter Hills stamp set.  For the hearts, I used the Martha Stewart Crafts Valentine Foam Icon Stickers.

Santa's hitting town tonight!

Better watch out! Naughty or nice, awake or asleep.... he sees all! Happy Christmas Eve everyone!

hipster holiday card

Tracy and I were strolling through the Abbot Kinney festival in October when we came across a silly letterpress Christmas card.  It read: "I watch you while you sleep." If I remember correctly, it had a white hipstache on it, making it the ultimate hipster holiday card, right? So this is my recreation of it.

If I gave this card to the boyfriend, would he call me a hipster or a creepster?

Christmas Candy Boxes

A friend asked me to help her with her holiday gifts this year and special requested 10 boxes filled with a mix of salted pumpkin caramels and apple cider caramels. Because the caramels are best when eaten within 2-3 weeks, I had to wait til the very last minute to make the caramels.Thankfully, my best friends were kind enough to pull an all-nighter and help me make and wrap four batches of caramels. I owe them big time. Christmas Caramel Boxes

These boxes were personally handmade, as seen from the previous DIY Gift Box post.  The tags were cut using my Sizzix Big Shot and the Sizzix original die: Tags, Scallop Combo #2. As an extra thoughtful touch (it’s the holidays after all!), I also included a list of the ingredients just in case any of the recipients have any food allergies.

Christmas Gifts

This was my first time doing anything of this volume. Whew. Hopefully everyone will enjoy it! They better!
